Construction Project Update - Water Well Upgrades and Treatment Plants
December 18, 2025
Good day, as we wrap up the year, we wanted to update you on our construction progress at the water wells and treatment plant. We are in the process of replacing our water treatment plant built in 1968 with individual water treatment plants on each well. In addition, we are upgrading our water wells pump capacity. This was important for the following reasons:
- Due to the age of the electronics in the old water treatment plant, it was becoming increasingly difficult and costly to have it repaired or find replacement components.
- During a well emergency, we will still be able to operate and provide safe drinking water from the other well for continued operation.
- Both water treatment plants will have backup booster pumps for chlorination in case of booster pump failure for continued operation.
- By upgrading our pumps from 500 gallons a minute to 1,000 gallons a minute, we will be able to plan to upgrade our water mains to a more appropriate size for fire protection and continue safe drinking water.
We have 40% of this part of the project completed, as we are waiting for the new pumps and motors to tie it all together. Starting January 2026, we will be in the process of replacing the pump and the motor at Well 1, our oldest well. During this time, we will be adjusting and troubleshooting problems and challenges, as we will be taking the old plant offline and swapping to the new treatment plant. We anticipate by March 2026, we will take Well #2 offline and replace the pump and motor. Then we will connect it to its new individual treatment plant. This will all be connected to the generator we installed in 2017.
Once this project is done, we will have the following future projects to complete:
- Disconnect the water main from the old water treatment plant. Demolish the old water treatment plant.
- Repaint the inside and outside of the water tower. This will take approximately 8 weeks.
- Upgrade the water main coming from the water tower. This will help us be able to upgrade water mains along W Commerce St. and Hwy 301 to individual streets and neighborhoods.
As we get closer to doing each project, if we anticipate any issues with service, we will alert you through our text and email messaging through our website. We hope you all have a safe and happy new year.
